The venue

Located on an islet surrounded by channels, 5 minutes away from Dunkirk’s main square - the Place Jean Bart - Les 4Ecluses is the key venue for the city’s musical life.

The organisation Arts Scéniques Rock was founded in 1989 and has been running the venue since 1994.

Known for its programme, Les 4Ecluses offers contemporary music shows (rock, electro, pop, ballad, hip-hop, ska, punk, metal, etc.) from September to June, for adults but also for younger audiences. The public is welcomed in an unusual room, with a vaulted ceiling, vestige of an 18th century gunpowder magazine that was turned into a music venue. Les 4Ecluses is a human-sized venue with a capacity of 300 persons (standing) or of 150 seats.

With its three rehearsal rooms and its recording studio, Les 4Ecluses are carrying out major work in artistic creation support and musical amateur practice support. The various cultural outreach projects implemented by the organisation make of this place a platform for experimentation and popular education.
