Two years after Marked for Death, Californian composer Emma Ruth Rundle and Kevin Ratterman (My Morning Jacket) cooked the record On Dark Horses up. Together with colleagues from her label (Sargent House) Evan Patterson, Todd Cook (Jaye Jayle) and Dylan Nadon (Wovenhand), she puts the introspective meanders she always shares to music: she infuses them with strength and vitality, notes of (new-found) hope and a few kind demands for taking control in one’s darkest moments.
